vExpert 2012
Yesterday I received the news once again I have achieved the community status of VMware vExpert. This is the 3rd year running and I am honoured to receive this title. Question is now I have the hat-trick do I retire or continue. I think while I can still add value and be useful to the community I should strive for 2013. I got a few new free VMware apps on paper and some VMUGs to support…so I’ll keep going for now 😉
Breaking the Magician’s Code at #LonVMUG
Next month Liquidware Labs will be sponsoring the London VMUG and actually it won’t be me presenting in our vendor pitch. Instead I will be presenting a community session (run twice) about how novice programmers can start building VMware Apps like the ones I have developed over the years. I’m not a programmer and only know the fundamentals of languages such as C#, so how did I come about building community recognised applications? So this session is not about learning to program or learning the VMware API in detail but at the same time I want to show you how I did it and maybe we may see some more community apps be born. I will be using the code from one of my apps to teach and releasing the source code on this site the same day.
This event is jam packed with other stuff so get yourself registered and come long.

How to use Plugin Wizard with vSphere5
OK my vSphere Plugin Wizard (14385 downloads ) application does work with vSphere 5. To make it work follow my previous instructions but save the xml file on the vCenter in
c:\Program Data\Vmware\Vmware VirtualCenter\docRoot\yourplugin.xml
And in the “URL of plugin used for registration” use:
https://your-vCenter/yourplugin.xml
Click “Register Plugin” and job done.
