Cloud Analogies

Just for a bit of fun I’m creating a new section of my blog called “Cloud Analogies”. In work I seem to be drawing a lot of parallels so people can understand why we are making certain decisions about cloud solutions. And of course me being me I have to put a funny twist on them. So lets start with:

Customer: Walks into a car showroom. I want to purchase a horse?

Car Salesperson: We only sell cars here but yes I can get you a horse!

Q. Why are you trying to sell a BMW when the client wants a Skoda?

A. I’m not selling a BMW, I’m selling a Toyota Hybrid. Slightly more expenses than a Skoda but savings are in the ROI.

Q. Why are you selling a cloud layer when the client doesn’t want cloud like features?

A. In the olden times if you wanted to cook dinner you had to go into the forest, cut down a tree, split some logs to fuel a stove. This process was free expect for your time. Then the government said we are going to pump gas into your houses directly to cook dinner and they’ll charge you for it. Yes there is a cost but now your time is freed up to do other things like knitting crochets!
